Job Description:

As a Machinist Helper at BW Converting you would be responsible for providing general support to the machine shop team through a variety of hands-on tasks. This includes moving parts between work centers, scanning materials, locating parts, assisting machinists with coolant changes, and emptying chip bins and garbage. You would also be responsible for maintaining the overall cleanliness and organization of the shop including the coolant racks, oil racks, fifty-five-gallon barrel racks, and chip poppers throughout the facility.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support machine shop team members by performing a variety of general tasks throughout the shop
  • Move parts between work centers, scan materials, and locate parts as needed
  • Empty garbage, chip bins, chip poppers, barrels, and containment units including chips, coolant, and swarf
  • Maintain fifty-five-gallon barrel racks, coolant racks, and oil racks throughout the facility
  • Assist machinists with coolant changes and clean-up associated with the set-up and tear-down of jigs and fixtures
  • Operate materials handling equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, overhead cranes, and dollies to move stock and organize storage
  • Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment as assigned
  • Provide and maintain sufficient basic hand tools required to perform the duties of the position
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute input on quality, cost, and production issues
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate with team members across the shop
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly manner
  • Work in accordance with established safety procedures
  • Report to the worksite consistently and on assigned shifts with the ability to work overtime as needed

Education and Experience Requirement:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Forklift experience a plus
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment a plus
