Part-Time (2-3 days per week)
POSITION SUMMARY: The teacher’s assistant helps the teacher maintain the educational environment of the class, prepares class materials, and works with students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide instructional and clerical support for the teacher.
  • Support and assist children in learning class material using the teacher’s lesson plans, providing students with individualized attention.
  • Supervise students in the cafeteria/eating area, hallways, chapel, early care and after school care.
  • Work with students one on one as needed and in groups, as directed by the teacher.
  • Review and reinforce classroom lessons and classroom rules.
  • Assist teacher with grading papers, checking homework, and preparing folders.
  • Assist teacher in keeping classroom organized.
  • Assist teachers in the discipline and training process.
  • Engage with students through active monitoring small groups as directed by the teacher.
  • Learn and use the TCS discipline policy
  • Must be a member of and attend a local Church.
QUALIFICATIONS: Associate degree or higher. Related college coursework is preferred and two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems efficiently and effectively while maintaining good working relationships.
