Our 2nd shift Machine Operators start at a minimum of $20 per hour (DOE) + $1.50 Shift Differential plus $1.00 raises each 6 months with a Quarterly Performance Bonus of up to $750.
Must be flexible enough to train on 1st shift 4-6 weeks as needed.
What does a Machine Operator do here at Cook?
  • This position will set up and operates our automated saw. The saw cuts lengths of metal material for open job orders. This team members will also support material handling activity within the department. This list is illustrative only, and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class, perform all of the duties listed, nor does it necessarily list all possible duties that may be assigned.
Responsibilities:
  • Reads blueprint or job order for product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances, and tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut, and determines sequence of operations.
  • Sets up and operates cutting equipment as required
  • Observes operation of machine and verifies conformance of machined work piece to specifications.
  • Sets up and operates tools and other equipment as necessary
  • Performs inspection work, including final inspection.
  • Prioritizes and plans work activities; Uses time efficiently.
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Monitors own work to ensure quality.
  • Other duties as may be assigned

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Excellent mechanical skills.
  • Good math skills.
  • Ability to operate various types of machine tools to perform progressive machining.
  • Ability to read blueprints and plans.

Minimum required qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of trade school apprenticeship or equivalent shop experience.
  • Technical training in shop math and blueprint reading is necessary to perform the job.

The ideal candidate possesses the following experience, skills, and abilities:
  • 1-3 Years in a manufacturing environment
  • Machine shop experience
  • Attention to detail
  • Computer operations (Windows)
This position is eligible to earn a quarterly bonus based on performance metrics and other criteria outlined in our applicable bonus plan.
