Job description

Night Shift Fresh Produce Order Selector

Scheduled start time 5:30 PM (Sunday- Friday night)

Salary Range: $22.00 an hour; 90 day merit evaluation

Physical Requirements

Walking and standing for an entire shift. Selecting, pulling, labeling, staging, loading and cleanup, in a fast-paced warehouse environment. Employees must be physically fit and able to bend, stoop, twist, reach overhead, repeatedly lift upwards of  50 pounds, and maintain awareness of the surroundings to operate in a safety-first manner. Orders are selected from pallets on the floor, racking or shelving and out of cardboard boxes of large bins. Staged on carts, two-wheelers or pallet jacks, the employee must have the ability to walk and pull a heavy cart or manual pallet jack.

Selected Orders may be built on wooden or plastic pallets, wrapped and labelled appropriately. Selected orders will be efficiency and properly loaded onto trucks ready for delivery.

Warehouse Environment

To maintain freshness and the Willie Itule Produce superior quality standard, the Fresh Produce Warehouse is refrigerated to 33 degrees. The environment is cold and under artificial lighting.

Warehouse Safety First Approach

All employees are required to follow warehouse safety guidelines such as OSHA rules and regulations. Employees will need to wear appropriate clothing and maintain all food safety standards.

Training and Experience

All new employees will be trained- a minimum of 7 days in all procedures, processes, functions, policies and details of the job. Ensuring success, confidence and long-term sustainability. Experience is always a plus.

Minimum age: 18 years old

  • Ability to follow directions and execute procedures properly
  • Must have the ability to learn and master the job quickly
  • Ability to read both alphabetic and numerical characters as displayed on a RF scan gun
  • Ability to display and maintain a strong work ethic
  • Ability to focus and maintain a safety-first approach
  • Experience within the Fresh Produce industry is a plus
  • Must have basic math skills and general reading ability
  • Ability to use freight moving equipment
  • Ability to work effectively in a cold climate
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively and in harmony with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
