Position Information
These positions are located in Property Management of the Renovation Division.
Essential Functions
May supervise contractors in performing maintenance or repair duties.
May require the ability to communicate, report and complete work orders using technology such as a Smartphone or tablet and associated applications.
Responsible for purchasing construction and maintenance related items; accountable for delivery of related financial paperwork to administrative staff.
Performs skilled and semi-skilled work in the construction and renovation of county buildings and facilities: reads blueprints or other design drawings to determine work to be performed; performs rough and finish carpentry, painting, and performs minor masonry and concrete repair work such as setting forms, mixing and pouring concrete, and laying modular block walls.
Assists in ensuring that operation, construction, and maintenance of buildings, equipment, and systems are in compliance with applicable laws, codes, regulations, and standards: conducts maintenance inspections of buildings, equipment, grounds, and facilities to identify potential problems, unsafe conditions, and needed repairs; and initiates any actions necessary to correct deviations or violations.
Performs building construction renovations and repair tasks: removes or installs flooring and ceiling tiles ; removes or installs fixtures and appliances; paints interior and exterior surfaces; removes or installs carpet, plaster applications, millwork fabrication and installation/replacement of drywall.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required, supplemented by some vocational or technical training in one or more building trades; supplemented by one year of experience in building construction, maintenance and repair.
Licenses and Certifications
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
Physical Abilities
Tasks require the ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, with greater emphasis on climbing and balancing, but typically also involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds); may occasionally involve heavier objects and materials (up to 100 pounds).
Sensory Requirements
Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, taste, odor, depth texture, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors
Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, smoke, noise extremes, and electric currents.
