Job description

Our 2nd shift schedule is Monday-Thursday, 3:00pm-1:30am. The shift incentive includes a 10% -15% premium, paid lunch, 3 day weekends, formal airframe training (AMT's postings only) and eligibility to transfer to 1st shift after 3 years.

What you can expect as a Lead Aircraft Paint Technician at West Star:
This position requires an advanced knowledge of the aircraft paint processes. The job involves leading teams, varying amounts of work order processing, log book entries and general aircraft painting. Supervision of the team and direction of project flow will be a primary function.
You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS including:
  • Day to day management of production crew to ensure scheduling demands are met.
  • Coordinate schedule with other departments.
  • Training of individual team members to ensure quality and safety standards are met.
  • Scheduling with parts department to ensure necessary materials required to complete the jobs are available.
  • Assist in final inspection of aircraft.
  • Maintain the premises of the paint shop and work facilities in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Many duties of the Paint Lead Tech may be delegated by him to qualified subordinates as deemed necessary; however, such delegation does not relieve the supervisor of the overall responsibility.
  • Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
  • Attention to detail is a must.
  • Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English

What you'll need to bring with you:
Your Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent.
A valid driver's license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal
Your Experience:
8+ years' experience in painting of aircraft, autobody, RV or Marine preferred.
This position needs exclusive knowledge in all area's of the job
This position will need minimal supervision and will be responsible for leading small work groups on daily tasks
Your Initiative:
We're looking for team players who are self-motivated, flexible and skilled at working in a fast paced environment where working under specific deadlines and time constraints will be common.
Your Sense of Responsibility:
Attend work every day as scheduled to include overtime and weekend assignments.
Notify the supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.
Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day.
Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
Assist with painting, painting base coat and layout.
Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
Maintain customer-oriented work habits.
Other Particulars:
Physical Requirements
Lift and carry 50 lbs.
Routine walking, bending and squatting or sitting.
Work standing on ladder or scaffold.
Pass pulmonary physical
Pass respiratory fit test, as you must wear protective gear.
Mental Requirements
Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines including but not limited to OSHA, haz mat, etc.
Logically work with mechanical processes.
Work with others in a professional manner.
Good communication skills.
Supervision
Work under supervision of your Team Leader.
Working Conditions
The majority of work will be accomplished in a heated hangar or shop area.
Work in aircraft on ramp may occur.
Varied positions in and around the aircraft.
Equipment Used
Air equipment, polisher and sander.
Stripper pump, electrostatic paint guns, pressure posts, and laser level.
Tugs, power carts and other engine powered equipment.
