Steward Machine Company, a multi-generation family-owned business with over 100 years of success, is seeking a dedicated 2nd Shift Paint Department Lead for its Bainbridge, Georgia facility. With more than 290,000 square feet of manufacturing space and some of the largest CNC machinery in the world, Steward Machine offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic, high-capacity environment. As the Paint Department Lead, you will play a key role in overseeing a team responsible for applying industrial coatings to fabricated metal products, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency in every project.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise a team of industrial painters and sandblasters on the 2nd shift, ensuring high-quality application of industrial coatings to fabricated metal products.
  • Expertly apply a variety of industrial coatings, including within confined spaces, while adhering to strict safety protocols.
  • Interpret and implement technical documents, such as paint mixing procedures, and maintain sprayer equipment.
  • Perform daily cleaning and maintenance of spraying equipment using appropriate solvents and cleaning solutions.
  • Oversee and maintain the paint mix room in compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate in rigging and moving large objects during the coating process, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
  • Ensure the team maintains a clean and organized work area to promote efficiency and safety.
  • Enforce adherence to all safety regulations, promptly report equipment malfunctions, and perform additional duties as assigned by supervision.
  • Report directly to the Plant Manager at Plant 3 in Bainbridge, Georgia.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • At least one year of experience leading a team of industrial painters and sandblasters.
  • Proficiency in operating overhead and jib cranes.
  • Experience operating a forklift.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate instructions in written, verbal, diagrammatic, or scheduled formats.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime, in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Physical ability to perform all essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodations (including standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in various positions).
  • Familiarity with various types of spraying equipment and industrial paints (preferred).
  • Understanding of surface profile and material bonding for coating applications (preferred).
