Description

Under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy, each Pharmacist is responsible for the operations and safety of the pharmacy, including compounding, dispensing, scheduling, purchasing, distribution, quality improvement and regulatory compliance. Each Pharmacist is responsible for the direct oversight of all medication preparations and dispensing. The Pharmacist may also serve as the Pharmacist-In-Charge per state licensing requirements.

Job Location: Madisonville, LA

Requirements

  • B.S. or Doctor of Pharmacy degree is required or Registered pharmacist license if foreign graduate
  • Active registered pharmacy license in the state of Kansas and additional states as required
    without restrictions
  • 1 year of hospital and home infusion therapy experience preferred
  • Two years of recent clinical pharmacy experience preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of infusion therapies preferred
  • Recent inventory management experience preferred
  • Accuracy in mathematical calculations including pharmacokinetic dosing preferred
  • Knowledge of CPR+ software preferred

Job Responsibilities, included but not limited to:

  • Participating in patient evaluation and chart review for acceptance, product selection, device selection and supply management
  • Collect, interpret, and evaluate all physician medication orders for therapeutic appropriateness, cost effectiveness, accuracy, safety and completeness
  • Monitor the patient's progress and assessment results to communicate clinical and technical information with the physician and other members of healthcare team. Most patient contact will be on the phone, and, on occasion, you will meet them in our infusion suite
  • Directly supervise pharmacy technicians and support personnel in the appropriate compounding, packaging, and labeling of compounded sterile product
  • Assist in training and orientation of new employees, performance improvement activities and educational programs
  • Additional licensure may be required in multi-state service areas
  • Go into IV room and mix medications if needed
  • Other duties assigned
