Overview

The Former Operator is responsible for providing day-to-day leadership and coordination of packing operations to ensure production goals, quality standards, safety requirements, and customer specifications are consistently met. This position requires a mechanically inclined, hands-on individual who can effectively lead employees, troubleshoot production issues, prioritize workloads, and maintain an efficient production line.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and print production labels, port tickets, WIP tickets, production orders, and specification sheets for each shift
  • Coordinate staffing and assign packers to production lines based on established production standards and business needs
  • Lead, train, and develop new packers and trainers to ensure employees understand job responsibilities, quality expectations, and safety procedures
  • Coordinate meal and break schedules while maintaining appropriate production coverage
  • Maintain accurate inventory of production labels, port tickets, WIP labels, and other required production materials
  • Ensure production lines are properly prepared and ready for setup by completing line-clearance activities and verifying required materials are available
  • Provide leadership and direction to packers/loaders when production lines are down or operating at reduced capacity
  • Operate or assist with forklift operations as required
  • Assist with basic equipment troubleshooting and demonstrate the ability to understand mechanical issues affecting production
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in manufacturing, production, packing, or similar industrial environment preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify, troubleshoot, and communicate basic equipment issues
  • Forklift experience required
