Job description

Bela Family Dentistry

Expanded Duties Dental Assistant, Florence, SC

Who we are

At Bela Family Dentistry, we exist for one reason: uncovering smiles through service and love. We are doctor-founded, fee-for-service by design, and built on relationships, not insurance contracts. Our patients get undivided attention. Our team is trusted to lead.

We believe excellent dentistry happens when the dentist, the team, and the patient are the only people in the conversation. That's why we have intentionally chosen not to be in-network with insurance companies. Treatment plans stay between the clinician and the patient.

We are growing across South Carolina, and we are looking for an Expanded Duties Dental Assistant to join our Florence team. If you have ever felt anonymous in a busy production practice or wished for a place where your skill at the chair was recognized and your work with patients actually mattered, this is going to feel different.

What you will own

  • The chairside partnership. You are the dentist's second set of hands and the patient's second friendly face. You anticipate what is needed before it is asked, and you make every procedure move smoothly.
  • The clinical work. Preparing operatories, taking radiographs, sterilization and infection control, chairside assistance across restorative and preventive procedures, placing temporary restorations, packing gingival retraction cord, taking impressions, coronal polishing, and dental lab work. You work alongside doctors who trust your hands and value your clinical opinion.
  • The patient experience. Answering questions, walking patients through post-operative instructions, discussing treatment recommendations, being the calm presence when they are nervous. Many patients remember the assistant as much as the doctor.
  • Your growth. We invest in your continuing education through Spear Education and ongoing CE opportunities. Many of our team members grow into expanded roles at Bela. We hire for the long haul.

What we offer

  • Competitive base salary with a bonus structure
  • Full-time position, Monday through Thursday with an hour lunch
  • Medical, dental, and vision benefits with a company-paid monthly allowance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Generous PTO and paid holidays
  • Short-term and long-term disability, plus life insurance for employee and family
  • Free CE opportunities, including Spear Education courses
  • Paid training and ongoing mentorship
  • Modern equipment and digital technology in every operatory
  • CPR certification and scrubs provided

The Bela Way

Six core values guide every decision we make. They are not posters on the wall. They are what we hire for, recognize, and hold each other accountable to:

  • Be Purpose Driven
  • Be Professional
  • Be Kind
  • Be a Steward
  • Be Loyal
  • Create a Circle of Safety

If those resonate with how you already work at the chair, you will recognize yourself here.

Who we are looking for

  • Active Dental Assistant certification in South Carolina
  • Expanded Duties (EDDA) certification preferred, or willingness to obtain within a reasonable timeframe
  • Current radiography certification and CPR certification
  • 2+ years of chairside experience preferred (strong candidates with less experience considered)
  • Familiarity with Dentrix and Microsoft Office
  • Warmth with patients, calm under pressure, and comfort with the physical rhythm of chairside work
  • Service orientation and the desire to be part of a team, not just clock in

To apply

Submit your resume through Indeed. We respond to every qualified applicant within a week.
