Job description

POSITIION SUMMARY:

Conducts day-to-day activities pertaining to the checking and packing product for the shipping department.  Checks and Packs material accurately and in an efficient manner, all while maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

In addition to the Responsibilities of “Order checker/Packer”:

  • Ensures designated equipment is in proper working condition (forklifts, pickers, crane, hand tools, etc.)
  • Effectively communicates with department supervisors
  • Utilizes Sales Order information to accurately verify recorded information provided by the order puller
  • Visually inspects all material to identify any non-conformances
  • Packages material securely, ensuring it is protected from any potential damage during transit.
  • Properly fills out information required on Sales Order and accompanying forms
  • Attend Safety Meetings to identify departmental issues and discuss ways to correct them
  • Identifies areas of improvement while maintaining a clean and safe work environment
  • Duties are not limited to those described above and may be expanded as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Speak and read English. Bilingual Spanish a plus
  • 1+ years warehouse experience preferred
  • Ability to read and understand industry specifications, charts, and tables
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Basic computer skills. Experience with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred.
  • Must have average reading, writing, and mathematical skills.
  • Ability to drive forklift and secure certification
  • Capable of lifting and stacking objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires a high level of attention to detail
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and priorities
  • Able to stand and operate a variety of equipment as assigned
  • Takes initiative and can work independently
