Packer

Summary of Position

The Packer is responsible for operation of equipment used in the packaging of products at Sunshine Metals, Inc.

Responsibilities and Duties

As a minimum, the following is a basic description of typical duties and responsibilities expected of the Packer. These duties are not exhaustive and are subject to change as the needs of the organization require.

  • Pull and move material within warehouse using crane or fork truck, safely.

  • Prepare packaging material for shipping according to customer requirements.

  • Assemble skids and other shipping containers as needed.

  • Measure dimensions and gauge material with micrometer.

  • Confirm material specifications on inventory tags for orders being shipped.

  • Stage material for shipping according to bill of ladings.

  • Generate inventory tags to be placed on material being received.

  • Enter inventory tag data into computer system.

  • Obtain appropriate signatures on bills of lading.

  • Maintain shipping supplies.

  • Keep immediate work area clean and organized throughout the day.

  • Use precision when operating tools such as tape measures, micrometers, nibblers and calipers.

  • Adhere to all Sunshine Metals’ safety rules, regulations and quality standards.

  • Adhere to all Sunshine Metals’ handbook policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Computer skills necessary

  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • Good reading and math skills

  • Good organizational, problem solving, and time management skills

  • Ability to measure using different tools

  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction

  • Operate with high integrity, maintaining positive relations with co-workers, customers, and suppliers

  • Strong work ethic; self-motivated
