Position Description:

Processing and preparing of product into bulk, filled bottles, or packaged for packing and shipment

Essential responsibilities:

  • Preparing of product into bulk, filled bottles or packaged for packing and shipment.
  • Replenishes packaging supplies such as boxes, shrink-wrap, labels or pallets.
  • Inspects materials, products, and containers for non-conformances at each step of packaging process. Inspects filled container to ensure that product is packaged according to specifications.
  • Records information, such as batch code, time, and date packaged. Responsible for correct count, accurate label placement, batch codes and lids for each bottle. Must work from technical data to ensure quality production runs.
  • Logs and reports production information in written and electronic form.
    • Records information, such as batch code, time, and date packaged.
    • May also keep records on number of items or cartons received from the warehouse

  • Identifies boxes and pallets with the correct customer’s work order information.
  • Operates basic machinery with ability to make minor adjustments or repairs.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Must contribute to department team incentive goals. Team incentive goals and rewards are based on productivity, in both quantity and quality of work and the accuracy to which the job and/or processes are completed. Each team member is dependent upon the contribution level of his/her co-worker.
  • As part of the production team each employee is required to cross train and demonstrate competency on all essential job functions of the packaging department.
  • Support of and involvement in company, department, and/or safety policies, procedures, programs and activities.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Competencies/skill Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Basic computer skills to input data into the database.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • This position requires the employee to obtain and maintain a current food handler’ permit.
  • English Proficiency required

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and converse and listen.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver items over head as part of routine job duties.
  • The employee must exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
