Job Description

The Shipping and Packaging Specialist safely prepares, packages, and ships products while supporting general warehouse operations. This role uses forklifts and other material handling equipment, works within ERP systems, and ensures that all outgoing and incoming materials meet quality, documentation, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Carefully wrap and package outgoing products to prevent damage during storage and transportation.
  • Select appropriate packaging materials to protect product integrity while optimizing size and weight based on transportation method, export regulations, and customer and carrier requirements.
  • Examine shipments to ensure they meet customer specifications and comply with carrier requirements, export regulations, and customs documentation and compliance standards.
  • Verify the accuracy of orders by counting, weighing, and measuring items and comparing them against bills of lading, customer orders, or other records.
  • Maintain accurate records of all shipments and ensure shipping documents are complete, accurate, and properly labeled.
  • Receive, unwrap, inspect, and store incoming materials as needed, accurately recording counts, weights, condition, and storage locations.
  • Utilize forklifts, pallet jacks, dollies, and other material handling equipment to safely transport materials throughout the facility.
  • Operate overhead or jib cranes as required to move materials safely and efficiently.
  • Use forklifts to load and unload goods on and off trucks, maintaining safe operating practices at all times.
  • Obtain and maintain required forklift certification upon employment and follow all equipment safety guidelines.
  • Complete all required paperwork in compliance with internal processes and quality procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following established safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Work collaboratively with warehouse and shipping team members to meet deadlines and support overall production and shipping schedules.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience with shipping, packing, and warehouse operations.
  • Proficiency in packaging, shipping, and receiving tasks, including shipping and receiving clerk duties.
  • Ability to use measuring tools to verify dimensions, weights, and quantities of materials and products.
  • Experience in warehouse production, warehouse shipping, and warehouse packing environments.
  • Ability to operate a forklift safely and effectively; willingness and ability to obtain forklift certification upon employment.
  • Experience using pallet jacks, dollies, and other material handling equipment.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems for tracking shipments, inventory, and documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail for verifying orders, documentation accuracy, and compliance with customer and carrier requirements.
  • Ability to follow written procedures, quality standards, and safety guidelines.
  • Capability to perform the essential functions of the role with or without reasonable accommodation.

Work Environment

This role is based in a warehouse and production environment focused on packing and shipping manufactured products. Packing and Shipping Specialists work with a variety of packaging materials, measuring tools, and material handling equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, dollies, and potentially overhead or jib cranes. The position follows a day shift schedule, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The work involves standing, moving materials, and operating equipment throughout the shift, with a strong emphasis on safety, cleanliness, and organization. Team members work closely with others in shipping, receiving, and production, using ERP systems and standard documentation to manage shipments and inventory while maintaining a safe and orderly work area.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tulsa, OK.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
