When you join Design Group as a Packaging Project Manager, you are joining a team that will challenge you and position you for growth. In this role, you will work with a team of industry experts to help the world's leading companies solve their most difficult problems. You will join our Packaging Systems Practice and partner with seasoned leaders, technical specialists, and subject matter experts to deliver the highest quality solutions to our clients with consistency and accuracy.

What You'll Do

You'll work individually and in teams to support capital projects and implement solutions for our clients. Together, you will help our clients make critical changes to improve their performance and realize their most important goals.

  • Design and develop automation packaging lines

  • Assume responsibility for all aspects of the mechanical design process including estimation, justification, budget management, scheduling, specifications, bid analysis, procurement, implementation, acquisition, installation, start-up, troubleshooting, and documentation

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and international regulations

  • Lead communications with vendors (OEMs) and contractors

  • Provide engineering solutions for continuous improvement objectives utilizing industry standard tools and procedures

  • Evaluate existing packaging operations and drive projects to provide solid ROI and improve productivity

  • Identify and specify project tooling for packaging equipment requirements

  • Make an impact day-to-day with your skills and expertise, strengthening that relationship with our clients and team

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in packaging solutions, mechanical design, and project engineering

  • An understanding of all types of packaging equipment (filling, secondary packaging, palletizing) in a range of industries and applications

  • An understanding of fully integrated packaging lines (preferred)

  • Experience in the beverage, food, consumer products, pharmaceutical, or industrial engineering industries (preferred)

  • Experience in writing scope of work documentation and managing contractors on-site

  • Strong working knowledge of CAD, SOPs and cGMPs

  • An understanding of packaging components and the equipment types that correlate to those components

  • A general understanding of automation control systems (PLC, HMI, VFDs)

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Solid problem-solving, strategic thinking, and critical thinking skills

  • A willingness to travel for project requirements including installation and start-up activities, client and company sponsored meetings, trainings, industry related seminars, forums, and conventions

  • A bachelor of science in mechanical engineering is preferred, but consideration will be given to other engineering degrees based on relevant experience

The approximate pay range for this position is $100,000-$150,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.
