Description

The Manager, Operations - Warehouse reports to the Director of Operations and is responsible for the overall management and optimization of warehouse and packaging operations. Beyond daily oversight, this position plays a key role in developing and maintaining processes that ensure the safety of all employees, exceed customer quality and service expectations, achieve facility throughput goals, and embrace a culture of continuous improvement. The Operations Manager is also tasked with managing costs to deliver desired EBITDA targets while ensuring the efficient functioning of all warehouse activities.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Oversee day-to-day warehouse operations, including packaging, shipping & receiving, dispatch, and goods storage.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy by performing cycle counts as determined by company guidelines.
  • Develop, mentor, and lead a diverse team of Supervisors and direct/indirect reports, fostering an inclusive and supportive team culture.
  • Partner with Health, Safety, & Environment Leadership to instill a culture of Zero Harm by ensuring compliance with safety regulations, delivering safety training, conducting Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and leading hazard resolution and accident investigations.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and site leadership to oversee the hiring and training process for Supervisors and direct/indirect reports, ensuring alignment with organizational values and job requirements.
  • Work closely with the Quality Team to develop and maintain quality processes, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), labor plans, and productivity-enhancing strategies. Conduct Quality Audits to minimize failures, investigate Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPAs), and perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and 5 Why investigations.
  • Partner with Maintenance Teams and 3rd Party Vendors to ensure equipment, machinery, and facility grounds are secure and in optimal working condition.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and consistent fulfillment of customer packaging and shipping orders.
  • Analyze and develop detailed reports on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as productivity and production metrics (via Shop-Logix, Power BI, etc.), driving data-informed continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Build strong partnerships with customers, maintaining regular communication to ensure high satisfaction and proactively address concerns.
  • Manage purchasing and materials for warehouse and packaging operations, overseeing Purchase Requisitions for required supplies and equipment.

Requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience (preferred).
  • Minimum of 1+ years of industry experience.
  • At least 5 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Experience in P&L management, project management, and objective setting (preferred).
  • Leadership competencies including performance management, goal-setting, accountability, and effective communication.
  • Ability to manage cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Strategic and "big picture" thinking with strong problem-solving and time management skills.
  • General knowledge of industrial equipment and warehouse operations.
  • Proven track record of meeting high-quality standards.
  • Familiarity with ISO, OSHA, DOT, and other safety and regulatory standards.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, etc.) and ability to learn systems like TMW or other operational software.
