Job Description
Responsible for a core team of engineers to provide design, pricing and equipment requirements for new and existing business. Influences the business as it relates to new solutions, continuous improvement ideas and increasing our footprint within digitalization and automation to continue to drive sustainable, value-added solutions. Develops and maintains critical relationships with internal operations and external customers, vendors, and suppliers to become a trusted advisor and subject matter expert. Ensures continual development of team members honing their design and pricing expertise to deliver solid recommendations resulting in successful project outcomes. Provides leadership within the RFP process and other critical projects.
Responsibilities
- Leads a team of engineers on the design and pricing for all pursuits, implementations, and re-engineering projects
- Ensures the team is continually developing their engineering skills and business relationships to influence decision makers on the appropriate path forward as it relates to the project design, pricing and equipment required for all packaging operations
- Creates partnerships across the business that support and drive the objectives of the Packaging Product offering
- Understand the market and critical components that can be leveraged to create innovative solutions provided to all packaging operations
- Responsible for identifying and supporting continuous improvement goals and objectives for assigned scope or network.
- Continual engagement around analytics within area of responsibility to provide support for business review meetings, new business pursuits and rate reviews
- A trusted advisor who provides perspectives that helps identify gaps or issues and offers solutions within assigned space
- Understand all operational KPIs and the impact the solutions we provide have on each of these measures
- Maintains strong customer relationships in partnership with sector to support continual growth of our packaging operations
- Has the ability to deep dive into modeling, analytics and pricing opportunities but continues to look for opportunities to improve our tools and processes for their teams and the overall business
- Continually communicates to leadership on critical topics and priorities with the ability to navigate escalations, issues, and challenges towards solutions
- Responsible for the continual growth and development of 3-5 engineering resources that support across our business.
- Validate pricing of new and existing business.
- Recommend design and automation for improving productivity.
- Choose appropriate metrics for each project.
- Interviewing and hiring new team members
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, or Engineering related field
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, custom packaging or related business
- Ability to effectively communicate with Upper Management as well as customers and account teams and staff
- Knowledge of packaging equipment and materials
- PC proficiency
- Time study and analysis skills
