Guilford Hall Brewing, located in the heart of Baltimore, Maryland, is a European-inspired craft brewery producing just under 5,000 BBL annually. We’re dedicated to brewing world-class beer, preserving tradition, and delivering exceptional quality in every pint. Our brewery, beer hall, and beer garden reflect our passion for community, craftsmanship, and hospitality. As we continue to grow, we're seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Packaging Manager to join our production team.

Position Summary

The Packaging Manager will be responsible for all aspects of the packaging process, ensuring beer is transferred from bright tanks into cans, kegs, and beyond with precision and care. This role requires a hands‑on leader who understands the importance of quality, consistency, and efficiency, and who thrives in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead daily packaging operations, including operating and maintaining canning lines, keg washers/fillers, and labeling equipment.
  • Plan, schedule, and execute packaging runs to align with production and distribution timelines.
  • Conduct QA/QC checks on packaged beer (dissolved oxygen, seam integrity, fill volumes).
  • Maintain thorough packaging records, inventory logs, and traceability documentation.
  • Order and manage packaging supplies (cans, lids, labels, trays, kegs).
  • Train, supervise, and support packaging staff and seasonal workers (as needed).
  • Ensure proper cleaning and sanitization of all packaging areas and equipment.
  • Uphold safety and quality standards throughout all packaging processes.
  • Communicate regularly with brewing and cellar teams to coordinate beer readiness and transfer timing.
  • Troubleshoot and coordinate repair of mechanical or operational issues on packaging equipment.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of packaging experience in a production brewery (craft brewery experience strongly preferred).
  • Hands‑on experience with canning line equipment (Microcanner, Wild Goose, or equivalent) and kegging systems.
  • Familiarity with QA/QC methods relevant to packaging (e.g., DO testing, seam checks).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Comfortable working in a physically demanding environment (lifting 55 lbs, moving 165 lb kegs).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Forklift certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Bonus Skills
  • Previous leadership or team management experience.
  • Familiarity with brewery management software (e.g., Ekos, Ollie, Beer30).
  • Preventive maintenance knowledge and documentation practices.
What Guilford Hall Brewing Offers
  • Competitive compensation based on experience.
  • Health benefits and paid time off.
  • Beer perks and employee discounts.
  • Opportunity to grow within a dynamic and respected brewery.
  • A collaborative work environment centered on quality, creativity, and community.
