SUMMARY
The Controls Design Engineer is responsible for creating detailed electrical / controls schematics and documentation for custom bulk material handling equipment and integrated systems designed, engineered, and built by National Bulk Equipment (NBE). This role requires collaboration across engineering disciplines to ensure accurate and complete electrical design packages that meet customer requirements and comply with applicable standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Perform Electrical Schematic Design using AutoCad Electrical for standard electrical component selection, schematic development, control panel layout, control panel bill of materials, terminal box layouts, and component tag generation.
  • Support additional documentation requirements that may include the following: P&ID's, Interconnection Diagrams, Single Line Diagrams, Conduit Schedules, Harness Lists, Instrument Lists, I/O Lists, P&ID's and other required documents as outlined by customer specifications.
  • Work directly with mechanical engineers, project managers, and sales/application engineers to fully understand project scope and functional requirements.
  • Interpret customer specifications and ensure all electrical design outputs comply with those requirements, as well as NBE's engineering standards.
  • Participate in design reviews, offering recommendations for improved functionality, efficiency, or cost-effectiveness.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • 5+ years of experience with AutoCAD Electrical, or similar electrical CAD software, is required.
  • Experience with E-Plan is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of AC/DC electrical systems, safety systems, and automation components is required.
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards - National Electrical Code (NEC®) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA®) code - is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret pneumatic and hydraulic diagrams is preferred.
  • Experience in programmable logic controller (PLC) programming is a plus.
  • Familiarity with UL 508A control panel requirements is a plus.

Pay Range: $70,000 - $90,000 per year
