Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Packaging Associate is responsible for performing packaging operations in compliance with FDA, cGMP, and company standards to ensure the safe, accurate, and efficient packaging of dietary products. This role supports the packaging team by assisting with line setup, component handling, product inspection, and documentation activities. The Packaging Associate plays a key role in maintaining product quality, accuracy, and consistency in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & DUTIES
INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
โ€ข Assist in the setup, operation, and cleanup of packaging lines in accordance with SOPs and production schedules.
โ€ข Package products according to approved master manufacturing records (MMRs) and quality specifications.
โ€ข Inspect components and finished goods for defects, correct labeling, and overall quality.
โ€ข Operate or assist with packaging machinery such as bottling, capping, labeling, and sealing equipment under supervision.
โ€ข Record production data accurately in batch records and equipment logs as required.
โ€ข Support changeovers between product runs, ensuring line clearance and correct components.
โ€ข Maintain cleanliness and organization in work areas, including line equipment and packaging stations.
โ€ข Adhere to all cGMP, FDA 21 CFR Part 111, and safety standards.
โ€ข Report any product discrepancies, equipment malfunctions, or quality issues immediately to the Lead or Supervisor.
โ€ข Follow PPE, hygiene, and safety procedures at all times to maintain product integrity.
โ€ข Participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives to support production efficiency and compliance.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE
โ€ข High school diploma or equivalent required.
โ€ข 1-2 years of experience in a packaging, production, or manufacturing environment preferred.
โ€ข Familiarity with FDA 21 CFR Part 111 and cGMP manufacturing practices a plus.
โ€ข Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling components and documentation.
โ€ข Ability to read and follow written work instructions, MMRs, and SOPs.
โ€ข Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn operation of packaging equipment.
โ€ข Effective teamwork, communication, and time management skills.
โ€ข Ability to perform repetitive tasks with consistent accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

Employee Responsibilities
โ€ข Adhere to cGMPs and SOPs.
โ€ข Report any situations that might harm food safety or quality immediately to the supervisor or QA Department.
โ€ข Ensure food safety and quality are maintained according to company standards.
โ€ข Comply with policies and procedures to prepare and pack products under sanitary conditions that do not expose it to the risk of contamination.
โ€ข Operate and maintain a clean and hygienic standard of operation. Always Follow Company CGMPS (Current Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety Policies).
Supervisor Responsibilities
โ€ข Maintain a Food Safety Culture by regularly assessing the team's performance and understanding of food safety practices.
โ€ข Initiate decisions on corrective action that support resolution and improved policies and procedures.
โ€ข Communicate to employees any opportunity to improve team performance to achieve greater levels of product safety and quality.
โ€ข Comply with policies and procedures to prepare and pack the product under sanitary conditions that do not expose it to the risk of contamination.
โ€ข Encourage and maintain a strong food safety culture by ensuring employees are knowledgeable of food safety policies and procedures, as well as empowered to report events that could impact the food safety of the product
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
โ€ข Frequent standing, walking, and manual handling throughout the shift.
โ€ข Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
โ€ข Repetitive motions, including bending, reaching, and handling packaging materials.
โ€ข Manual dexterity for operating equipment and handling small components.
โ€ข Must be able to wear PPE including gloves, hairnets, masks, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
โ€ข Manufacturing and packaging floor settings with exposure to moderate noise, powders, and temperature variations.
โ€ข Must comply with GMP, hygiene, and safety regulations always.
โ€ข Fast-paced, production-oriented environment requiring attention to detail and consistency.
โ€ข Frequent collaboration with Quality, Maintenance, and Production teams.
โ€ข May require occasional extended hours or weekend work during peak production periods.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds regularly.
  • Must be able to load and unload packages with and without dollies in various types of weather.
  • Must be able to use a dolly and strap materials down.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the primary duties of the job, the employee is regularly exposed to various outdoor and indoor environments (i.e. general office, industrial complexes, food processing plants, semiconductor labs, clean rooms, etc., some of which can be hazardous). Temperature variances, high noise levels, and dusty environments may be encountered.
