Job description

Title: Delivery Assistant
Status: Full-Time, Hourly
Hours: 40 Weekly Hours: Four 10-Four Shifts

Key Responsibilities:
The Delivery Assistant will load deliveries and deliver to our customers utilizing software on delivery tablets.  They will also drive box trucks in a courteous and safe manner to ensure that our clients' furniture arrives in perfect shape, unload and set up new furniture in our client’s homes while being respectful of their home and landscaping.  Our goal is to help our clients have more beautiful and comfortable homes.  Our delivery team plays a huge part in reaching that goal. Below is an outline of other key duties:

  • Follows the direction of Delivery Lead to utilize our Delivery Software.
  • Communicates to customers in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Folds each blanket and stow as they are removed from product on the truck.
  • Follows direction of Delivery lead and communicate effectively to carry furniture into our customers’ homes, assemble and place in requested locations.
  • Follows direction of Delivery Lead to carry any and all product into our customer’s home placing it in the room requested.
  • Cleans and organizes truck cab interior and box interior at the beginning and end of every route.
  • Assists where needed in locating merchandise in the store for floor display work.
  • Keeps warehouse and other storage areas neat and ensure all items are properly located.
  • Uses all safety equipment as provided and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Works in the warehouse to pick, assemble and prepare furniture and floorcovering for delivery to our customer’s as directed by Delivery Manager.
  • Work with others on the warehouse and delivery team in a way that promotes teamwork and cooperation, including filling in for others when absent from work.
  • Work at special events such as but not limited to our offsite sales, warehouse sales and store events that may take place outside of your regularly assigned schedule.
  • Follow all procedures as described in the Delivery SOP.

The ideal candidate will work well with others on the delivery team and help promote teamwork and cooperation. This position must always provide courteous and professional service to our customers. Additional qualifications and skills listed below:
 

Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Experience:
    1. Must be able to read, write and have basic math skills.
    2. Previous warehouse experience preferred.
    3. Knowledge of computer warehousing applications preferred.
    4. Experience or ability to operate a forklift and other warehouse machinery preferred.
    5. Basic computer knowledge, along with the ability to utilize Microsoft Office applications.
  • Physical Requirements:
    1. The ability to lift, carry and maneuver up to 100 pounds and stand or sit for extended periods of time.
    2. The ability to use tools that assist in the lifting and transport of large and sometimes heavy furniture.
    3. The ability to use tools in the assembly and installation of furniture.
    4. The ability to bend, lift and carry furniture and items into customer’s homes, properly placing them and assembling where required.
