MRI Aide

Our MRI Aides work collaboratively to promote optimal patient safety and streamline daily operations across our diagnostic imaging suites. By maintaining rigorous Level 2 MRI safety standards, executing precise pre-screening protocols, and facilitating smooth patient flow, our aides ensure our patients and staff remain secure in a highly magnetic environment. We view our support team as a vital component of the care journey and recognize the incredible impact they have on safety and operational excellence!

A Typical Day:

  • Screening: Conducting thorough safety screenings and scanning individuals with a metal detector before entry into Zones 3 and 4 of the MRI suite.
  • Patient Flow: Optimizing patient flow between exams by moving patients, placing them on stretchers and exam tables, and coordinating transport by bed, stretcher, or wheelchair using strictly MRI-compatible equipment.
  • Communication: Advising patients of wait times and instructions, making phone calls, sending faxes, and coordinating care with anesthesia, critical care nurses, and/or pacemaker vendors.
  • Clearance Support: Assisting with tasks and retrieving information related to obtaining clearance for patients with MRI-conditional medical implants.
  • Administrative Duties: Scanning forms and paperwork into Epic and following general operational instructions given by technologists.
  • Department Upkeep: Retrieving and stocking departmental supplies while replenishing linens and gowns for continuous use.

This role might be for you if:

  • Safety-Focused: You are deeply committed to strict MRI safety protocols and maintaining a vigilant environment within high-risk magnetic zones.
  • Collaborative: You thrive on supporting technologists, nurses, and vendors to streamline daily department operations.
  • Adaptable: You possess strong multitasking abilities to balance patient transport, direct screening, and clerical duties in a fast-paced setting.
  • Detail-Oriented: You recognize that precise documentation, thorough screening, and careful equipment selection directly impact patient safety.
  • Service-Minded: You believe that optimizing the patient experience requires clear communication, empathy, and active coordination of care.

To be considered:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Fully trained and familiar with all aspects of MRI safety, achieving a Level 2 designation (or ability to become trained/certified upon hire).
  • Demonstrated ability to perform patient care, handle safe transport equipment, and manage administrative workflows within electronic medical records like Epic.
