Position Overview
This role is essential for delivering expert, patient-focused care within a telemetry unit in a dynamic healthcare setting located in the Pacific Northwest region. The Advanced Telemetry RN at the Clinical Nurse II level is responsible for continuous cardiac monitoring and managing complex patient needs with autonomy and collaboration across interdisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care: Monitor patients requiring continuous cardiac observation, perform detailed assessments, respond swiftly to changes in cardiac rhythms and neurological status, administer medications including non-titratable drips, and develop individualized care plans. Act as a compassionate patient advocate and provide education to patients and families on medical conditions and lifestyle adjustments.
  • Safety and Compliance: Maintain a safe and clean environment adhering to infection control and regulatory standards such as The Joint Commission and OSHA. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and report safety hazards promptly.
  • Documentation: Accurately document all patient care activities and responses in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) following established standards.
  • Professional Development and Leadership: Mentor new graduate nurses, new hires, and students, support ongoing education, serve as a resource for telemetry best practices, and act as Relief Charge Nurse when needed.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Respond promptly and effectively to cardiac emergencies including arrhythmias and chest pain with advanced clinical skills.
Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum two years as a Registered Nurse in telemetry or equivalent intermediate care settings. Transitional RN candidates must have two years in acute care or similar environments.
  • Proficient in post-procedure care such as post-cardiac catheterization, pacemaker insertion, and post-CABG monitoring.
  • Strong skills in ECG/EKG interpretation and arrhythmia management.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment requiring quick decision-making and teamwork.
