Job description

School Security Officer – Philadelphia, PA – $25.00

Former Law Enforcement (Police Officer or State Trooper) required


School Security Officer

Location: Philadelphia, PA


Schedule:

Monday to Friday - 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM

Schedule follows the school calendar with an occasional after school and Saturdays as required and two months off during the summer break


Pay rate: $25.00 per hour

You will not be sent to a site and expected to figure everything out alone. Our recruiting, training, compliance, scheduling, and operations teams support you throughout onboarding and while you are assigned.


What You’ll Do

  • Maintain a visible, professional presence throughout the school
  • Patrol entrances, hallways, common areas, grounds, and safety hot spots
  • Support visitor management and access-control procedures
  • Identify suspicious behavior and report concerns early
  • Use verbal de-escalation during student, parent, and staff conflicts
  • Build professional relationships while maintaining clear boundaries
  • Respond calmly during emergencies and critical incidents
  • Communicate by radio and write clear, factual incident reports
  • Arrive on time, look sharp, stay engaged, and remain consistent

Basic Qualifications:

  • Retired or honorably separated Municipal Police Officer or State Trooper
  • Graduate from Municipal Police Officer Education, Training Commission’s Police Academy, OR State Police Academy
  • Experience as Military Police or Master at Arms can also be considered
  • Current clearances as required by the laws of Pennsylvania (24 P.S. § 1-111) weapons use/baton use/restrain procedures.
  • Must be willing to obtain clearances as required by the Child Protective Services Law and PA School Code.
  • Able to work well under pressure.
  • No felony or misdemeanor convictions involving moral turpitude.
  • Reliable means of communication (active cell phone with mobile email access).
  • Ability to comprehend and utilize the English Language (verbal and written).


Preferred Qualifications:

  • School security experience and Act 67 Certification.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification.
