Job description

Role Purpose:
To provide administrative and process-related task support to the supervising Manufacturing Engineer; to assist and lead (as directed by the supervising Engineer) in providing technical support to Manufacturing in aspects of process monitoring/control, quality control, test sampling; and to provide weekend and/or conversion support, as appropriate.
Qualifications (Required & Preferred):
Education: High School or equivalent (R), Associate or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology/Supervision/other (P)
Experience: 1-3 years manufacturing experience required.
Knowledge: Manufacturing processes and equipment (P), metals processing and/or testing experience (P), basic metallurgical principles (P)
Skills: Basic writing, math, communications, computer, and organizational skills (all R); SPC knowledge (P).
Role Responsibilities:
  • Manufacturing Processes: a) At the direction of the supervising Engineer, monitor processes, equipment, and materials to assess conformance to established SOP's, QCI's and routing instructions; b) Assist Manufacturing (as directed) in support of workflows needed to meet delivery requirements; c) Maintain key trend data for assigned Manufacturing processes (e.g., grind loss reporting) and report off quality trends; d) Monitor assigned PDP and development projects and provide summary reporting, as appropriate.
  • Support of Developmental Projects: a) Complete assignments and maintain process status tracking for special projects; b) Collect special metallurgical sampling data, and record and assist in the analysis of process trending.
  • Process Metallurgy: Recognize and refer processing decisions that have major impact on product metallurgy.
  • Communication: a) Clearly provide feedback about process quality to Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineer, and Production Control; b) Summarize processing activity and quality issues through periodic oral/written reports.
  • Processes Used: a) Approach personal duties in organized and consistent manner; b) Know/use established internal procedures for accomplishing daily activities (e.g., PR, PDP, and base routing systems, etc.).
  • Cross-functional Relations: Recognize responsibilities based on organizational structure and communicate/cooperate with the appropriate individuals (persons responsible).
  • Leadership: a) Persistently insist/ensure that identified process problems are addressed effectively; b) Conduct daily duties professionally, consistently, and above reproach.
  • Quality Systems: Assist in disposition of non-metallurgical, process-related PRs, and maintain trending of problems.
