Weight Loss/Obesity Medicine Nurse Practitioner

Location: Will travel to Fairfax, Tysons Corner and Merrified, VA

Practice: Prima Medicine

Schedule: Full-time or Part-time (minimum 3 days per week)

Prima Medicine is a patient-centered medical practice dedicated to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care with a focus on weight loss and obesity management. Our team provides compassionate and individualized treatment plans to help patients achieve long-term health and wellness.


Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and manage obesity and related conditions (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia).
  • Develop individualized treatment plans, including lifestyle modifications, behavioral counseling, and nutritional guidance.
  • Prescribe and manage pharmacotherapy for weight management, including:
    • Phentermine and Topiramate
    • Naltrexone HCI/Bupropion HCI (Contrave)
    • Xenical, Alli (Orlistat)
    • Tirzepatide (Mounjaro), Semaglutide (Ozempic), Liraglutide (Saxenda), Semaglutide (Wegovy), Cagrilintide (Zepbound)
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment strategies accordingly.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including dietitians and other healthcare professionals.

Qualifications

  • Nurse Practitioner: Board Certified FNP or AGNP.
  • Active Virginia license or willingness to obtain.
  • Preferred certification in Obesity Medicine through OMA or ABOM or willingness to obtain
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Obesity Medicine required (no new graduates at this time) or 1 year of experience in Primary Care with experience with GLP1 therapies.
  • Strong understanding of evidence-based obesity treatment methods, including lifestyle interventions and pharmacotherapy.
