How much do owl rdf jobs pay per year?

As of Jun 7, 2026, the average yearly pay for owl rdf in the United States is $47,768.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $37,500.00 and $54,500.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are OWL RDF experts?

OWL RDF experts are professionals skilled in using the Web Ontology Language (OWL) alongside the Resource Description Framework (RDF) to model, structure, and query complex data relationships. They typically work in fields like semantic web development, data integration, and knowledge management, creating ontologies that enable machines to understand and process information more effectively. Their expertise helps organizations structure data for interoperability, reasoning, and advanced analytics, particularly in areas such as healthcare, research, and enterprise data systems.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an OWL/RDF Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an OWL/RDF Developer, you need a strong background in semantic web technologies, ontology modeling, and data modeling, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with tools and languages such as Protégé, SPARQL, RDF, OWL, and reasoners like Pellet or Hermit is typically required. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication are essential soft skills for accurately modeling complex domains and collaborating with stakeholders. These skills and qualifications are vital for building robust, interoperable knowledge representation systems that power data integration and intelligent applications.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working with OWL and RDF in semantic web projects?

Professionals working with OWL (Web Ontology Language) and RDF (Resource Description Framework) often encounter challenges related to ensuring data consistency across complex ontologies and integrating diverse data sources. Navigating the steep learning curve of ontology modeling and understanding reasoning engines can also be demanding. Additionally, collaboration with domain experts is crucial to accurately represent real-world concepts, and keeping up with evolving standards and best practices in semantic technologies is important for long-term project success.

What is the difference between Owl Rdf vs RDF Data Model?

AspectOwl RdfRDF Data Model
PurposeExtends RDF for complex ontologies and reasoningBasic framework for representing data as triples
ComplexitySupports rich semantics and constraintsSimpler, focuses on data structure
Use CasesSemantic web, ontology modelingData interchange, basic metadata
CertificationsRequires understanding of RDF, OWL standardsBasic knowledge of RDF syntax

Owl Rdf builds upon the RDF Data Model to enable complex semantic reasoning and ontology development, making it suitable for advanced web applications. In contrast, RDF Data Model provides the foundational structure for data representation without the added complexity of reasoning capabilities.

Job description

Position: Graph Database Architect

Location: Remote

Duration: Long term contract

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Graph Database Architect to design, optimize, and implement scalable graph-based data solutions. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in OWL/RDF ontology design, performance optimization, and hands-on experience with leading graph database technologies, particularly within Azure Cosmos DB.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement graph database solutions with a focus on ontology modelling (OWL, RDF).
  • Architect and optimize data models for scalability, performance, and maintainability.
  • Develop and maintain graph-based queries and pipelines using Gremlin, Cypher, and related query languages.
  • Lead data integration and transformation efforts to support complex R&D, analytics, or business use cases.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into graph-based technical solutions.
  • Provide performance tuning, monitoring, and optimization of graph workloads in Azure Cosmos DB.
  • Ensure compliance with data security, governance, and industry standards.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 8+ years of overall data architecture experience, with at least 3+ years focused on graph database solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of OWL/RDF, ontology design, and semantic web standards.
  • Proven hands-on experience with Gremlin, Cypher, Neo4j, and other graph query languages.
  • Expertise in Azure Cosmos DB (graph API), including deployment, scaling, and performance optimization.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, indexing, and query optimization techniques.
  • Experience in integrating graph databases with enterprise applications, APIs, and data pipelines.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills to bridge business and technical requirements.

Nice to Have:

  • Familiarity with other cloud data platforms (AWS Neptune, GCP Graph Solutions).
  • Knowledge of machine learning or AI applications leveraging graph databases.
  • Experience in ontology-driven analytics or semantic data integration.
