Job description

Responsible for all managing all erection services and coordinating with internal resources to ensure projects are delivered on time and in budget. This position is responsible for maintaining consistent communication with both customers and erection crews as well as tracking project progress utilizing assigned PM software.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Maintains construction schedule and systems to track and report all phases of open projects.  Provides regular project updates to other departments.
  • Manages on-site contractor relationships and ensures that all have trained in proper erection of self-storage buildings.
  • Reviews requested change orders and provides estimated cost.  Aligning construction schedules with contractors to determine project deliverables
  • Partners with Regional Sales Managers to negotiate implications of change orders with customer and/or contractors.
  • Overseas construction site, labor / installation contractors and workers to ensure a high level of quality and safety. Ensures all work is performed in accordance with approved manuals, procedures and Engineered drawings.
  • Possesses knowledge of worksite OSHA requirements. Enforces established safety guidelines and promotes a safe workplace.
  • Develops and maintains project cost / change controls, and project budget and accounting records.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Manaagment, Project Management or other related field.  Experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • Minimum 5 years experience as a multi-story steel, light gauge metal, and red iron building construction

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:  

  • NASCLA, multi-State, General Contractors License exam, or has evidence that a License is being pursued and can be achieved is highly preferred.
  • Holds and maintains a General Contractors License in one or more states
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills including conflict resolution.
  • Ability to respond professionally to common inquiries or complaints from employees or contractors.
  • Strong understanding and ability to enforce any and all safety requirements consistently. 
  • Travel required; up to 70%. 
  • Valid driver’s license required.
