Description

Behavioral Health Allies is seeking a detail-oriented Workers' Compensation Specialist to join our Human Resources team. This role is responsible for administering all aspects of the workers' compensation program, including workplace injury reporting, claim management, incident investigations, OSHA compliance, return-to-work coordination, and employee support.


The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and experienced in managing workers' compensation claims in a fast-paced environment. This position partners closely with HR, leadership, Safety, insurance carriers, and medical providers to ensure compliance, reduce organizational risk, and promote a safe workplace.


Essential Responsibilities

As the Workers' Compensation Specialist, you will:

  • Manage high volume of workers' compensation claims from initial injury through claim closure.
  • Coordinate timely reporting of workplace injuries to insurance carriers and regulatory agencies.
  • Conduct thorough workplace incident investigations, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions to reduce future injuries.
  • Maintain OSHA 300 logs and ensure compliance with OSHA reporting requirements and applicable state workers' compensation laws.
  • Coordinate return-to-work and transitional duty programs while supporting employees throughout the recovery process.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for injured employees, supervisors, medical providers, insurance adjusters, and legal representatives.
  • Monitor claim activity, maintain accurate documentation, and prepare workers' compensation and OSHA reports for leadership.
  • Analyze injury trends and recommend strategies to improve workplace safety, reduce lost-time incidents, and control claim costs.
  • Partner with HR, Safety, and operational leaders to support safety initiatives, employee training, and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain confidential employee records and ensure all claims are handled professionally and in accordance with company policies.

Qualifications

Education & Experience
  • Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Occupational Safety, or a related field required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience managing workers' compensation claims, workplace injury investigations, OSHA reporting, and return-to-work programs.
  • Human Resources experience is a plus.
  • Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, education, transportation, human services, or another regulated environment is strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Working knowledge of state workers' compensation laws, OSHA regulations, and claims administration.
  • Experience conducting workplace incident investigations and identifying root causes.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and case management skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting regulatory and organizational deadlines.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with HRIS or claims management systems is a plus.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to build positive working relationships across all levels of the organization.

Starting Pay: Our compensation is competitive within the market. The minimum salary for this position begins at $62,000 annually, with your final offer based on a combination of your education, relevant experience, and overall qualifications
