Collins is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Team Lead to play a key role on our team in Canton, Massachusetts office. The ideal candidate will have experience in structural inspections and technical management who can bring creative problem-solving skills balanced with a strong background in the field. This position requires the ability to manage inspection tasks, liaise with clients and government agencies, and direct teams. This role offers a great opportunity for a highly motivated, driven professional who is looking for career growth with a company pushing forward in the industry. This position is a mix of office and fieldwork with some local travel. We offer plenty of opportunities for growth, working with professionals who have decades of experience developing industry-defining techniques. The Senior Team Leader is responsible for leadership and development of inspection teams and assisting in the growth of the local office.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supervises above water and underwater bridge and ancillary inspection and evaluations.
  • Reviews, analyzes and resolves field issues.
  • Responsible for engineering projects of varying size and complexity in field or office in accordance with plans and specifications.
  • Performs complex difficult inspection, access, coordination, and estimates in inspection projects.
  • Produce and review detailed inspection reports, ensuring timely submission for FHWA compliance.
  • Manages and provides leadership on inspection projects, including:
    • Proposal preparation
    • Project budgets
    • Project schedules and timely completion
    • Project quality
    • Project profitability
  • Mentors field staff on the purpose and processes of inspections and inspection techniques.
  • Make independent decisions within a general framework.
  • Is active in technical societies.
  • Is available to attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours.
  • Actively observes and acts in an appropriate manner related to safety.
  • Ensures that staff needing specialized training in health and safety procedures and practices receive such training and that safety is discussed as an important aspect of their work.

QualificationsEducation and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree and/or master’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited four-year university.
  • A minimum of 12 years of bridge or ancillary structure inspection experience.
  • Must have passed the NHI/FHWA Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges course #130055 or #130056.
  • Proficiency with MassDOT Bridge Inspection Management System (4D), and MassDOT Bridge Inspection Handbook (2015/2019)
  • Proficiency with the National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) and Specifications for the National Bridge Inventory (SNBI)
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) required.
  • Valid driver’s license.
