Purpose of the Position

The Sales and Application Engineer are responsible for achieving the sales goals for Kistler’s company’s Factory Automation products in the Midwest and Manitoba, Canada (WI, IL, MN, IA, MO, ND, SD, NE, KS, and Canada). He/she will visit customer sites, identify projects and system requirements, provide advice on appropriate applications, and creating value and solutions for the customer.


Main Tasks


  • Promptly respond to technical inquiries, price requests, delivery timelines, and service inquiries from customers.
  • Provide expert guidance on the best application of our products within the MedTech, Automotive, and general industry.
  • Partner with the team leader to create and execute a customized sales strategy aimed at partnering with customer base in given territory.
  • Identify emerging application opportunities and unique market demands, working with the team leader to deliver specialized solutions.
  • Keep up to date with the latest developments in Industrial Production products and applications to provide informed support to customers.
  • Prepare accurate and competitive price quotations and project proposals in SAP and C4C to ensure alignment with customer needs and company objectives.
  • Actively participate in industry events such as exhibitions, conferences, and association meetings to promote our products and generate new business opportunities.
  • Provide on-site support to customers, including product installation and training for engineers and technicians, ensuring successful implementation and utilization of Kistler products.
  • Showcase your expertise at trade shows to effectively market our products and attract potential customers.
  • Build strong relationships with customers to understand their product requirements and preferences, facilitating personalized service and support.


Requirements Profile


  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate engineering discipline from an accredited four-year college
  • Preferred customer experience in Automotive, MedTech, or related field
  • Minimum of 5+ years of technical sales experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Preferred experience in SAP or any related CRM systems
  • Preferred automation and machine builder contacts
  • Preferred experience in the application of force, pressure, and torque transducers, as well as associated electronics, software, and controls in manufacturing processes
  • Strong knowledge of electro-mechanical systems and assembly operations
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Availability to travel 60% of the time by car, with occasional overnight travel domestically and internationally
