Job description

As an overnight camp, we need additional male staff to stay in our male-gendered cabins to ensure safety for our campers overnight. We are currently at or near capacity for our female staff, but need a few more males to accommodate our male campers.
STARTING SALARY: $400+/week (DOE)
SHIFT: Sunday - Friday, daily hourly breaks, housing and meals provided

POSITION PREFERENCES & FUNCTIONS:
  • Team player with personal commitment to YMCA Mission, Philosophy & Character Development Values
  • Oversee a cabin group for duration of camp session
  • Reside in cabin with program participants
  • Ensure the emotional, mental, and physical safety of all participants
  • Complete required paperwork in timely manner
  • Work in tandem with other Camp Counselors and camp staff to create a safe and welcoming experience for all
  • Ensure cleanliness of cabins, units, and program areas
  • Effectively manage camper behavior and homesickness
  • Inform leadership staff of any camper concerns
  • Ability to accept guidance and supervision
  • Ability to demonstrate enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, self-control, maturity, responsibility, sound judgment, and good decision-making skills
  • Be of good character, and in sympathy with the goals and objectives of YMCA Camp Piomingo
  • Other duties as assigned
