Experienced Skilled Trades Worker - Historic Restoration

Renaissance Historic Exteriors

Belvidere, IL • On-site

$25 - $50/hr

Full-time

Medical, Dental, Vision

Re-posted 16 days ago

Job description

We're building a team of people who want to master a trade — not just work one.

Renaissance Historic Exteriors is hiring experienced craftsmen across four disciplines: Carpentry, Masonry, Roofing (Slate, Tile & Steep-Slope), and Architectural Sheet Metal. All of our work is on historic structures — State Capitols, universities, churches, private estates — using traditional materials and methods that set our team apart from every other contractor in the region.
If you've mastered your trade and want to do work that matters, this is your team. We offer the highest wages in our category, year-round employment, and a culture that puts craftsmanship first.
OPEN TRADE DISCIPLINES:
  • Carpenters: Traditional woodworking, timber framing, structural and finish carpentry, millwork installation and replication.
  • Masons: Historic brick and stone restoration, tuckpointing, mortar analysis and repair, masonry replication.
  • Roofers: Natural slate and clay/concrete tile, cedar shake, copper and steep-slope systems — historic methods required.
  • Sheet Metal Craftsmen: Custom architectural fabrication, copper roofing and cladding, historic metalwork and flashing details.
WHAT ALL POSITIONS REQUIRE:
  • Proven, demonstrated experience in your trade — we hire craftsmen, not generalists.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, scopes of work, and restoration specifications.
  • Commitment to safety protocols on active, complex historic job sites.
  • Willingness to travel regionally for project assignments (per diem provided).
  • Valid driver's license.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
  • $25–$50/hr based on trade discipline, experience, and proven skill level.
  • Group Health, Dental & Vision Insurance after 90 days.
  • Year-round, steady work — not seasonal, not project-to-project.
  • Travel per diem for overnight assignments.
  • Defined advancement into senior craft and leadership roles.
  • A respected, stable company with a 30+ year track record of excellence.
