Installation Technician - Field Deployment
DecisionPoint Technologies is seeking a Field Installation Technician to install and deploy POS hardware, and low-voltage network infrastructure at customer locations across the Midwest. Technicians perform structured cabling installs, configure retail technology equipment, and support large-scale retail and distribution center deployments. This is a field-based role supporting nationwide customer projects, primarily in retail and logistics environments.
Position Overview: As a Field Installation Technician, you will be the on-site expert installing, configuring, and troubleshooting technology solutions across industries. This role offers hands-on experience with advanced POS systems, network hardware, and enterprise-level installations-while traveling to exciting locations around the U.S.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot POS systems, network equipment (routers, switches, wireless access points), PCs, and other hardware.
  • Perform low-voltage cabling installations, including pulling, routing, and terminating Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optic cables per industry standards.
  • Conduct pre-installation site surveys to plan equipment placement and anticipate challenges.
  • Collaborate with project managers, customers, and fellow technicians to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies on-site.
  • Deliver excellent customer service while maintaining a professional presence.
  • Complete accurate, detailed installation reports and documentation.
  • Maintain company tools and equipment responsibly.

Requirements
Experience - What You Bring:
High School Diploma or GED required
Proven experience as an Installation Technician or similar role, with a strong focus on POS systems, networking, and PC hardware.
  • Expertise in low-voltage wiring and terminations, including familiarity with connectors and testing equipment.
  • Experience pulling and managing cables in commercial or industrial settings.
  • Skilled in using powered hand tools safely and effectively.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and blueprints.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and independence in resolving technical issues.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, BICSI, or manufacturer-specific credentials.
  • Experience with large-scale installations in retail, restaurant, or distribution center environments.

Work Environment & Travel:
