Job description
Canyon Ranch has been redefining wellness travel and transformative hospitality for more than 45 years. As the global leader in destination wellness, Canyon Ranch inspires lifelong well-being through world-class experts, personalized guidance, and immersive experiences that help guests live healthier, more fulfilling lives.
Now, we are entering an exciting new chapter with the opening of Canyon Ranch Austin in October 2026 — our newest wellness destination nestled in the Texas Hill Country. Designed to connect guests with nature, adventure, restoration, and personal growth, Austin will build upon the legacy established in Tucson, Lenox, and Las Vegas while creating new opportunities for exceptional talent to shape the future of wellness hospitality.
Recognized among the most outstanding hotels in the world by the Michelin Guide 2025, Canyon Ranch offers more than a career — it offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of others every day.
Join the founding team at Canyon Ranch Austin. Recruitment is underway today, with anticipated start dates beginning in Fall 2026.
Canyon Ranch Austin is seeking an experienced and highly professional Loss Prevention Manager to join our pre-opening leadership team. This critical leadership position is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all aspects of resort safety, security, emergency preparedness, asset protection, and risk management. Serving as the resort's primary security and life safety leader, the Loss Prevention Manager will establish the foundation for a comprehensive safety and security program that protects guests, colleagues, visitors, physical assets, and the Canyon Ranch brand. This role will lead the property's Loss Prevention team while partnering closely with operational leaders to foster a culture where safety, wellness, hospitality, and security coexist seamlessly. The ideal candidate understands that luxury security is discreet, proactive, and service-oriented. Success in this role requires exceptional leadership, sound judgment, strong investigative abilities, and the ability to remain calm and decisive in dynamic situations.
Responsibilities
WHAT YOU'LL DO AS A CANYON RANCH COLLEAGUE:

- Coordinate installation, testing, and commissioning of security systems including CCTV, access control systems, intrusion detection, key management systems, radio communications, and life safety systems.
- Partner with project teams, Engineering, IT, and contractors to ensure security and life safety considerations are integrated throughout the resort.
- Conduct risk assessments and security evaluations of guest areas, back-of-house facilities, employee spaces, wellness facilities, parking areas, and perimeter operations.
- Develop opening readiness exercises, tabletop drills, and emergency response training programs.
Safety & Security Operations
- Direct daily Loss Prevention operations throughout the resort.
- Maintain a highly visible yet guest-friendly presence across all areas of the property.
- Develop and oversee patrol programs for guest areas, wellness facilities, back-of-house operations, parking areas, trails, and resort grounds.
- Monitor resort security systems and ensure effective operation of surveillance, access control, and alarm systems.
- Oversee key control, credential management, and access authorization programs.
- Conduct routine security audits and operational assessments to identify vulnerabilities and mitigation strategies.
- Maintain effective relationships with local law enforcement, fire departments, emergency medical services, and emergency management agencies.
Life Safety & Emergency Preparedness
- Serve as the resort's primary emergency response coordinator.
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans covering fire, severe weather, medical emergencies, active threats, missing persons, utility disruptions, natural disasters, and other critical incidents.

Investigations & Risk Management
- Conduct investigations involving guest incidents, associate concerns, theft, fraud, workplace misconduct, property damage, liability claims, and policy violations.
- Prepare detailed investigative reports and maintain accurate documentation.
- Partner with Human Resources and leadership teams on workplace investigations and risk mitigation efforts.
- Monitor trends and implement preventive measures to reduce losses and operational risks.
- Support insurance claims investigations and incident reporting processes.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism in all investigative matters.
Guest & Associate Safety
- Promote a culture of safety and security throughout the resort.
- Develop programs focused on associate safety awareness, workplace violence prevention, and emergency response readiness.
- Support guest wellbeing through proactive risk identification and response planning.
- Ensure proper management of guest valuables, lost and found operations, and sensitive information.
- Assist with VIP arrivals, special events, executive protection needs, and high-profile guest accommodations as required.
- Provide service-oriented security interactions that align with Canyon Ranch hospitality standards.

- Monitor staffing levels, scheduling, payroll, and operational expenses.
- Oversee vendor relationships and service contracts related to security technology and life safety systems.
- Maintain accurate departmental records, incident reports, training documentation, and compliance files.
- Analyze operational data and security trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
Leadership & Team Development
- Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain a highly professional Loss Prevention team.
- Establish performance standards, accountability measures, and service expectations.
- Conduct regular training, coaching, and professional development sessions.
