Position Title: Overnight Security Guard
Reports To: CMLS Director of Operations
Employment Status: Full-Time Hourly (Overnight Shift)
Location: City Mission-Living Stones Properties
Position Summary:
The Overnight Security Guard is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of City Mission-Living Stones properties, personnel, and residents during overnight hours. This position involves routine foot and vehicle patrols, monitoring surveillance equipment, responding to alarms or disturbances, and documenting incidents. The role requires a vigilant and professional individual with excellent communication, situational awareness, and problem-solving skills.
This position requires the ability to work independently and maintain calm under pressure, particularly in emergency situations or during interactions with the public. A valid Pennsylvania driver's license and the ability to pass all required background checks and clearances are required.
Essential Job Functions:
Patrol & Monitoring:
  • Conduct regular foot and/or vehicle patrols of all City Mission properties during overnight hours.
  • Monitor for unauthorized access, suspicious behavior, or safety hazards.
  • Operate surveillance equipment, including cameras and alarm systems, and respond promptly to alerts or threats.
  • Ensure all access points are secure and report any irregularities or maintenance concerns.

Response & Incident Management:
  • Respond quickly and appropriately to emergencies, alarms, or security breaches.
  • Assist clients or members of the public who come to the facility during overnight hours and direct them to appropriate staff or resources.
  • Maintain professional composure and communication during stressful situations or confrontations.

Documentation & Reporting:
  • Complete detailed and accurate incident reports for all security-related events or activities.
  • Maintain a daily activity log to document patrols, checks, and noteworthy observations.
  • Report any equipment issues, safety concerns, or policy violations to the Operations Supervisor.

Facility Safety & Maintenance:
  • Ensure that the security office and patrol equipment are kept clean, orderly, and in good working condition.
  • Check that security lighting and surveillance systems are functioning properly; report malfunctions promptly.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Associate degree in Criminal Justice or a related field preferred; high school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience: Minimum of one year of experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
  • Licensing: Valid Pennsylvania driver's license required; must meet-and maintain-insurance carrier guidelines for driving eligibility throughout employment.
  • Background: Must pass all required organizational background checks and clearances.
