Job description

Retail Manager - Overnight Task Team
Our Story
Since its founding in 1972 in an 8-square-foot space in the back of the liquor store owned by the father of Johnny Morris in Springfield, Missouri Bass Pro Shops has blazed a new trail in the retail experience for outdoor enthusiasts. As millions of families know, a trip to Bass Pro Shops is more than a retail experience; it's an adventure, a mini-vacation, a celebration of nature, and an educational and enriching outing for the entire family.
People leave a Bass Pro Shops store with more than a bag of outdoor gear. They leave with a smile, a greater appreciation for nature, and a dream of spending more time fishing, hunting, camping, and hiking.
Conservation forms the heart and soul of Bass Pro Shops, a value that dates to the earliest days of the company. Alongside the customers we serve, Bass Pro Shops has, over the past decade, proudly donated more than 10% of earnings to support conservation efforts in local communities and across North America.
If you're a driven retail leader ready to make a legendary impact, apply now and be part of the adventure.
About the Role - Ready Before Sunrise
At Bass Pro Shops, the store you love by day only happens because someone gets it ready by night. As Retail Manager - Overnight, you'll lead the crew that turns a truck of freight into a store that's fully stocked, perfectly set, and ready for the next hunter, angler, or camper who walks through the doors. You'll drive results, energize your Overnight Supervisors and Outfitters, and take as much pride in a flawless reset as our daytime team takes in a great catch.
What You'll Be Tracking
  • Lead with purpose: Direct all overnight freight processing, replenishment, and stocking activities while delegating work, monitoring execution, and adjusting staffing to keep store priorities on track.

  • Bridge the Shift: Own daily workload planning and shift-transition communication with opening and closing leadership so nothing falls through the cracks between night and day.

  • Set the Standard: Establish clear performance expectations and drive accountability for productivity, quality, safety, and execution, coaching and developing a high-performing overnight team.

  • Deliver Every Morning: Ensure all overnight workload is completed on time and to company standard, keeping the customer experience seamless the moment the doors open.

  • Bring the Brand to Life: Execute planograms, seasonal transitions, merchandising resets, price changes, and inventory projects to visual presentation, signing, and pricing standards.

  • Keep it Running Smoothly: Drive inventory accuracy through replenishment, stocking, and inventory control processes across the overnight team.

  • Cover Every Angle: Oversee special events, UPC and pricing integrity, assortment planning, and advertised item presentation for operational excellence and store readiness.

  • Hire and Inspire: Carry out scheduling, interviewing, coaching, and performance management for the overnight team in line with company policy and applicable law.

  • Own the Night: Predominantly work overnight shifts, with occasional flexibility to other shifts as business needs require.

Gear You'll Need
  • Trail-Tested Experience: 3+ years of retail management experience in receiving operations or multi-department retail environments.

  • Warehouse-Ready Problem Solver: Prior experience and demonstrated ability to troubleshoot warehouse and logistical issues.

  • People Leadership: Strong leadership and team-building skills, with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Sharp Eye for Business: Solid understanding of retail operations and sales principles, with a proven ability to manage operational processes.

  • Inventory & Merchandising Know-How: Proficiency in inventory control and visual merchandising standards.

  • Certified & Ready: First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to be trained by company

  • Flexible & Physically Ready: Available for a flexible schedule including overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays; physically able to handle merchandise and perform store setup tasks.

The Terrain
This is a hands-on, overnight role that keeps the store moving after hours. You'll regularly be on your feet and at a computer, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders or step stools, operate machinery or power tools, work in varying temperatures and noise levels, and be exposed to outdoor elements and hazardous conditions as needed.
What's in Your Gear Pack
  • As part of the Bass Pro Shops family, you'll enjoy generous employee discounts of up to 50% off merchandise, plus access to world-class resorts and attractions

  • Medical, Dental & Vision insurance

  • 401(k) with generous company match

  • Paid holidays, vacation & sick time

  • Bass Pro Cares Fund (supporting team members in need)
