Job description

Production Supervisor

The Citterio USA Production Supervisor works to oversee our meat manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective production of our meat specialties, maintaining high standards of quality and safety, and leading a team of production workers.

This position reports directly to the Manager of the Citterio USA department where he or she works.

This position provides direct supervision to Union employees working in the department assigned.

Essential functions of the position include:

  • Oversee daily production activities to ensure timely and efficient production of products.
  • Implement and monitor production schedules to meet customer orders and company objectives.
  • Ensure all production processes are in compliance with company standards and regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, including OSHA and USDA standards.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, including respect and compliance for SQF/GMP Quality policies.
  • Maintain high standards of quality throughout the production process.
  • Address any quality issues promptly and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure products meet quality specifications.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor production staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Promote and engage in a culture of safety.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Support and embrace Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Manage waste and ensure efficient use of materials.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance teams to optimize equipment performance.
  • Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and finished products.
  • Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure the availability of necessary supplies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to listen effectively, respond appropriately and maintain mutual comfort level while relating to a diverse workforce.
  • Must have good attendance.
  • Other job duties as assigned.
  • Performs related work as may be required.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:

  • Knowledge of SAP preferred.
  • Knowledge of computers and computer software, with ability to apply this aptitude in word processing, Excel spreadsheet development, and Word document merges, and keyboarding skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of proper records management, retention of records and cataloguing of files.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to envision and deliver innovative solutions.
  • High energy level, ability to multitask, establish priorities, work independently.
  • Positive interpersonal skills included effective verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to establish credibility and be decisive.
  • Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information which may be proprietary to Citterio USA.
  • Ability to prepare and analyze comprehensive reports, carry out assignments, and administer existing and proposed programs.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and managers.

Education and experience include:

  • Completion of a high school, or general equivalency diploma; and,
  • Experience with SAP preferred; and,
  • Experience in Food Manufacturing experience preferred: and,
  • Strong knowledge of meat processing techniques and equipment; and,
  • Experience with and understanding of HACCP, GMP, SQF and food safety regulations; and,
  • Leadership and team management skills.

Physical demands include:

  • The employee is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work environment includes:

  • This role requires working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to cold temperatures and raw meat products. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • The noise level in the work environment can be moderate or loud when entering the plant.
  • Employees are required to wear proper food safe, steel toe shoes, hair net and beard net, nitrile gloves, frock, bump cap, hat, and proper hearing protection while working in certain areas.
