Job description

Nursing- Unit Manager - Longterm Care Unit

Saint Joseph Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is a Joint Commission, American Healthcare Association Award-winning, short-term rehab, long term, and skilled nursing care community. We are conveniently located in a lovely neighborhood in Boston/Dorchester, MA.  Parking provided!  This is a great opportunity on our long term care unit.  

We are seeking highly motivated RN or LPN Longterm Care Nursing Unit Manager to join our nursing management team.

Salary Range Based on Experience and Licensure: 

Unit Manager – RN - $125,000.00, Unit Manager – LPN - $110,000.00

  • The RN / LPN Longterm Care Nursing Unit Manager acts as an extension of the Director of Nursing for the unit assigned and is accountable and “in charge” for the said unit.  As such, the RN / LPN LTC Nursing Unit Manager directly controls and is in charge of all the nursing and C.N.A. staff to ensure resident care, clinical protocols, and customer services is optimized for our residents.  This position has accountability for directing, monitoring, and evaluating the care provided to all residents on their unit. 

  • The RN / LPN LTC Nursing Unit Manager provides support and guidance in the provision of nursing care and demonstrates the ability to assign and direct the nursing and C.N.A. staff daily on the unit.

  • Ensures that policies and guidelines specific to Clinical Operations as applicable are followed and provide educations, support and consultation to residents and family members, and works closely with the Rehabilitation Department to ensure care activities are geared to the individual resident’s needs.

  • Communicates resident’s needs to physicians and practitioners and offers interventions and solutions in an effort to reduce unplanned hospital transfers.

  • Engages daily with the interdisciplinary team to ensure care is provided effectively and discharge goals and objectives are met. 

  • Ensures that residents and family education needs are identified and required teaching occurs in preparation for discharge. 

Experience desired for the RN / LPN Longterm Care Nursing Unit Manager:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing required.

  • At least 2 year of clinical nursing experience in the long term care setting.

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in supervision of staff.

  • Ability to manage and direct subordinates.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills - able to communicate and work well with others including the residents, families, and co-workers.
