The Plant Maintenance Technician plans, directs and coordinates the work activities and resources necessary for concrete plant maintenance.
Essential Functions
  • Concrete Plant Maintenance
  • Ensures plants are able to run efficiently and effectively
  • Diagnoses, troubleshoots and repairs plant equipment, electrical systems and equipment controls in a timely manner to ensure production schedules are met
  • Helps prepare and schedule winter repairs and PM's
  • Helps schedule preventive maintenance
  • Performs maintenance to reduce impact on production
  • Communicates effectively
  • Advises plant managers and operators of problems, potential problems, or schedule difficulties
  • Collaborates with dispatch, operations and equipment
  • Facilitates collaboration among plant personnel
  • Promotes and maintains safe work environment
  • Exhibits safe work behaviors; evaluates work area for hazards; eliminates or controls hazards
  • Wears all prescribed PPE
  • Participates in daily safety huddles and safety training; follows safe work plans
  • Reads and understands hazard signs, training materials, work plans, instruction manuals
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company's core values, competencies, and skills.

Education Qualifications
  • Required High School or Equivalent

Experience Qualifications
  • Experience in Industrial Maintenance or related field required
  • 3+ years experience working in industrial maintenance position required
  • Experience in concrete plant maintenance preferred
  • Experience in fabrication, plumbing and/or welding is preferred

Licenses and Certifications
  • A valid driver's license and meet company driver requirements Required

Working Conditions/Physical Demands
  • Some exposure to a variety of extreme conditions at concrete plants, including heights, moving vehicles, moving equipment, live wires, exposed wires
  • Outdoor conditions that include inclement weather, precipitation, heat, humidity, dust, concrete, dirt
  • Indoor office conditions that include regular exposure to office equipment, such as computers, copiers, mail machines, telephones
  • Lifts, pushes, pulls, pours or carries heavy objects, loads of material, tools and repair parts
  • Walks and stands for long periods of time
  • Bends, stoops, squats, reaches to move materials and perform repairs
  • Climbs in, out and under equipment; lays or stands under equipment
  • Uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
  • Uses good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination, with the ability to quickly move arms and legs.
  • Possess excellent stamina to work between 8-12 hours per day
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Must adhere to drug free workplace and union substance abuse testing requirements
  • This is a full-time position, with a minimum of 40 hours per week. Hours are normally Monday through Friday, during business operating hours.
  • During peak construction season, extended, evening, overnight, shift and weekend hours may be required
