Overview
We are seeking a Senior Product Designer to join our Windows and Devices Design Studio, a team at the forefront of shaping the future of computing through emerging technologies and new interaction paradigms on Windows. This role will help define how people engage with next-generation platform capabilities across productivity, gaming, and development scenarios.
As a Senior Product Designer, you will have the opportunity to shape experiences that integrate evolving technologies such as AI, adaptive interfaces, agentic workflows, and multimodal interaction into cohesive, human-centered product experiences. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will translate complex technological possibilities into intuitive, accessible, and delightful design solutions.
You will collaborate closely with partners across design, engineering, research, and product management to explore new interaction models and bring innovative concepts from early experimentation through to scalable implementation across platform surfaces and applications.

Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver end-to-end product experiences from concept through implementation across platform features and applications.
  • Explore and prototype new interaction paradigms enabled by emerging technologies such as AI, adaptive interfaces, and intelligent systems.
  • Translate foundational Windows UX principles across multiple audiences, including Developers, Gamers, and Information Workers.
  • Collaborate with product management, engineering, research, and content design to define scalable components, patterns, and experience frameworks.
  • Translate complex technical capabilities into intuitive, accessible, and engaging user experiences.
  • Contribute to design systems, documentation, and experience patterns that enable consistency across evolving product ecosystems.
  • Present design concepts and rationale to stakeholders and leadership to influence product direction and strategy.
  • Mentor peers and contribute to team growth through craft leadership and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
  • Drive experimentation and iterative design practices that enable rapid exploration of new ideas and technologies.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 4+ years experience working in product or service design
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience, Interaction Design, or related field AND 5+ years experience working in product or service design
    • OR equivalent experience.

Additional Requirements:
  • Application submissions must include a link to a digital portfolio demonstrating interaction design, visual design, and systems thinking.

Preferred Qualification:
  • Experience designing innovative product experiences within complex technical ecosystems.
  • Ability to synthesize solutions from ambiguous or emerging problem spaces.
  • Experience working across disciplines such as UX, visual design, prototyping, or front-end implementation.
  • Ability to inform design decisions using qualitative and quantitative insights.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills across cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with prototyping tools and willingness to explore implementation technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
  • Experience designing multimodal experiences that leverage inputs and outputs such as voice, eye gaze, touch, or other emerging interaction paradigms.
  • Experience designing products that incorporate AI capabilities as a core part of the user experience, with a demonstrated ability to use AI tools to accelerate design exploration, prototyping, and execution.
  • Experience working across multiple stages of the product lifecycle and contributing beyond traditional design boundaries through close partnership with research, engineering, and product teams.
  • Experience designing accessible and inclusive experiences for customers, with a deep understanding of accessibility standards, assistive technologies, and inclusive design principles that enable all users to achieve their goals.

Product Design IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year.
