Overview

Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Limited-Term Senior Staff Professional to support fieldwork in Northwest Alaska supporting our Phoenix, AZ practice. The anticipated schedule for this role is 15 days on, including travel time to and from the site, working 12-hour shifts, followed by 13 days off. This position will have the opportunity to apply academic knowledge and practical experience to real-world situations related to contaminated site assessment & remediation, groundwater management, water treatment, and environmental due diligence for a diverse national private and public sector client base, while also learning and expanding the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Fieldwork such as soil and groundwater sampling, drilling and contractor oversight, construction quality assurance and oversight, and wastewater treatment system O&M;
  • Chemical data and contaminant fate & transport evaluation;
  • Groundwater and soil remedy evaluation, cost estimation, design calculations, and implementation;
  • Environmental due diligence, regulatory compliance services, and permitting;
  • Aquifer testing and hydrogeologic data analyses;
  • Data analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures; and
  • Preparation of technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.ย 
Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, geology or related field. (required)
  • Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of related experience, including observation of drilling and well installation, soil sampling, groundwater sampling, and other field techniques, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to environmental remediation. (preferred)
  • Priorย  experience in environmental consulting. (valuable)
  • Technical experience in geology, geotechnical, environmental, or related disciplines. (preferred)
  • Experience with construction work such as plumbing, electrical, structural, geotechnical, or mechanical tasks. (valuable)
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and related software; AutoCAD and/or GIS. (preferred)
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
  • Regular field work and overnight travel. (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
