Job description

Salary Range: $27.00 To $31.50 Per Hour
Job Description: QED Systems, an established marine engineering, planning, and ship modernization firm, is seeking qualified individuals experienced in marine electrical applications. The candidate must be able to comply with all applicable safety regulations, work under industrial repair conditions, work in confined spaces, and climb vertical/inclined ladders. Candidate must be able to: install, alter, repair, troubleshoot, maintain, test, operate any marine-related electrical equipment or system (such as distribution panels, console wiring, instrumentation wiring, control switches/wiring, power supplies, and lighting); lay out work; determine material needs; select load cable conduit sizes, determine power sources, choose wire gauge, determine type/size of panels, calculate voltage / ampere / resistance requirements to determine size/type of materials required (such as controls, switches, distribution panels, fuses, etc.) for a specific project/test, use various electrical/electronic measuring instruments/devices (such as voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, power analyzers, etc.), and conduct shipboard surveys to determine material / labor skills / time required to effect repairs / alterations / modifications to electrical systems/equipment.
Job Requirements/skill sets: 5+ years� experience as a Marine Electrician in the construction or repair of ships. Credit given for U.S. Navy or U.S. Coast Guard electrician experience. The individual must also be able to read, interpret, and follow blue prints, drawings, and technical manuals. Some travel is possible.
Education Requirements: High School Diploma required. Military technical school(s) desirable. NAVSEA Multi-pin Connector, Cableway, and Fiber Optic certification desirable.
Security Clearance/Naval Facility Access: U.S. citizenship required. Must be able to meet and maintain eligibility for U.S. Secret Clearance and be able to access military facilities, naval shipyards, and private shipyards.
