ABC Sheet Metal / Steeldyne is a growing AS9100D-certified aerospace manufacturer specializing in precision sheet metal, machined, welded, and fabricated assemblies for aerospace and defense customers.

We are seeking a hands-on Quality Inspector with strong experience in dimensional inspection, blueprint reading, GD&T, portable CMM arm inspection, and AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports.

This is a shop-floor inspection role for someone who enjoys personally inspecting parts, supporting production, maintaining inspection documentation, and helping ensure aerospace components meet customer, engineering, and quality requirements.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate has hands-on inspection experience with FARO Arm, ROMER Arm, Hexagon Arm, or similar portable CMM arm equipment. Aerospace manufacturing experience is strongly preferred, but we will also consider candidates with strong portable CMM arm, GD&T, AS9102 FAIR, and precision manufacturing inspection experience.

This role is a great fit for a Quality Inspector, CMM Inspector, FARO Arm Inspector, ROMER Arm Inspector, Metrology Inspector, FAIR Inspector, Dimensional Inspector, or hands-on QC Inspector with experience inspecting precision aerospace, sheet metal, machined, welded, or fabricated components.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform receiving, in-process, first article, layout, and final inspections
• Use portable CMM arm equipment such as FARO Arm, Hexagon Arm, ROMER Arm, or similar systems
• Perform dimensional inspection, CAD-to-part comparison, layout inspection, tooling checks, fixture checks, and inspection reporting
• Complete and review AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports, including Forms 1, 2, and 3
• Create, review, and verify ballooned drawings, characteristic accountability reports, and FAIR documentation
• Inspect sheet metal, machined, welded, fabricated, and precision-machined metal components
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, customer specifications, purchase orders, and quality requirements
• Use standard inspection tools including calipers, micrometers, height gages, thread gages, bore gages, indicators, pin gages, and surface plate equipment
• Prioritize assigned inspection work to support production needs
• Work with manufacturing, engineering, suppliers, and quality personnel to resolve inspection and documentation issues
• Assist with supplier source inspections, NCRs, MRB activity, root cause, and corrective actions as needed
• Support AS9100D quality system requirements, audits, inspection records, traceability documentation, and first article documentation
• Maintain accurate inspection documentation and quality records

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of hands-on quality inspection experience
• Direct hands-on experience with FARO Arm, Hexagon Arm, ROMER Arm, or similar portable CMM arm equipment
• Strong GD&T and blueprint reading skills
• Experience with AS9102 First Article Inspection / FAIR documentation, including Forms 1, 2, and 3
• Experience creating, reviewing, or verifying ballooned drawings and characteristic accountability reports
• Experience inspecting sheet metal, machined, welded, fabricated, or precision-machined metal parts
• Experience performing first article, receiving, in-process, layout, and final inspections
• Proficiency with standard inspection tools and surface plate inspection methods
• Strong communication, documentation, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently while supporting production and quality department needs

Preferred Qualifications

• Aerospace manufacturing inspection experience
• Knowledge of AS9100 / AS9100D quality requirements
• Verisurf software experience strongly preferred
• Experience with PC-DMIS, PolyWorks, CMM Manager, CAM2, or similar metrology software
• CMM programming or portable CMM inspection routine experience
• Aerospace welding, fabrication, and sheet metal inspection experience
• Supplier source inspection experience
• NCR, MRB, CAPA, root cause, and corrective action experience
• AS9100 internal audit experience

Compensation

$35–$40 per hour, depending on experience.
