Passionate about cars and providing excellent customer service? Are you looking for a rewarding opportunity in the hospitality industry that offers flexibility and growth? If so, you might be the perfect candidate for our Overnight Valet Attendant position at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Buffalo!

As a Valet Attendant for our hotel, you will move and park guest vehicles promptly and in a courteous manner using safe driving practices. Details of the role are included in the full job description below.

Please note typical hours of this shift are 10:00pm - 7:00am. This role requires weekend and holiday availability. This is a part-time position with variable hours based on availability and business needs. Flexibility with scheduling is essential to meet the needs of our hotel operations.

JOB SUMMARY

The Overnight Valet Attendant is responsible for providing safe, efficient, and courteous valet parking service for hotel guests during overnight hours. This role parks and retrieves guest vehicles promptly using safe driving practices, supports traffic flow at the hotel entrance, and assists with guest service needs to help ensure a positive arrival and departure experience. In addition, the Overnight Valet Attendant supports overnight hotel operations by maintaining the cleanliness of designated guest areas, assisting with light operational tasks during downtime, and providing general hospitality support to guests. The Overnight Valet Attendant follows hotel policies and safety procedures and maintains a professional appearance and service-focused attitude.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Park and retrieve guest vehicles in a safe, timely, and professional manner.
  • Issue claim checks and maintain accurate key/vehicle control using required logs, tickets, and systems.
  • Handle vehicles carefully and follow established safety procedures and hotel policies.
  • Promptly answer valet phones using positive, professional communication and coordinate guest vehicle requests.
  • Retrieve guest vehicle and claim check information using hotel and valet systems as needed.
  • Assist with traffic flow at the hotel entrance to maintain safety and efficiency.
  • Open vehicle doors and assist guests with loading and unloading luggage to ensure a smooth and efficient flow of traffic in the valet area, including issuing claim checks and tagging bags as needed.
  • Performs light cleaning duties during each shift to maintain the cleanliness and appearance of communal hotel areas and other designated spaces. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, dusting, vacuuming, and window washing.
  • Empty trash receptacles and transport waste to appropriate disposal locations as needed.
  • Support guest arrivals and departures by assisting with guest requests and providing general front-of-house hospitality services.
  • Assist guests courteously with basic inquiries and directions and provide a hospitable service atmosphere.
  • Report maintenance deficiencies, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior valet parking, transportation, or related guest service experience preferred.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license with a clean driving record required.
  • Experience driving automatic and manual transmission vehicles preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Ability to maintain an alert and attentive demeanor during overnight shifts.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with a hospitality-focused mindset.
  • Ability to safely operate a wide variety of vehicles, including luxury and oversized vehicles.
  • Knowledge of traffic control, parking procedures, and vehicle safety practices.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to handle guest concerns calmly and professionally.
  • Basic math skills and ability to follow cash handling procedures if applicable.
  • Ability to operate in a 7-day per week, 24-hour per day business environment, including overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Familiarity with local area routes and points of interest preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Ability to stand for the duration of the shift with continuous walking. This includes frequent running or โ€œpower walkingโ€ to retrieve vehicles quickly and maintain hotel service standards.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, pivoting, and stooping to enter and exit various vehicle types (from low-profile sports cars to large SUVs).
  • Precision in handling various types of keys and fobs, as well as operating both automatic and manual (stick-shift) transmissions.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry guest luggage, boxes, or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Sharp distance and peripheral vision to navigate tight parking garages, identify vehicle damage, and maintain safety in high-traffic areas.
  • Frequent exposure to outdoor elements at the hotel entrance, including heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind.
  • Work is performed primarily at the hotel entrance/porte-cochรจre (curbside), and may include a parking garage, surface lot, and occasional indoor lobby-adjacent areas.
  • Frequent exposure to vehicle exhaust and elevated noise levels from traffic, engines, and hotel arrival/departure activity.
  • The work pace fluctuates and may include high-volume peak periods (e.g., hotel check-in/check-out, group arrivals, weddings/events) requiring sustained standing, quick movement, and multitasking.
  • Maintaining a crisp, professional uniform and positive demeanor despite physical exertion or inclement weather.
