Pharmacist

Key responsibilities:

  • Supports and implements the practice mission and strategic vision within their respective departments.
  • Handles confidential information requiring professional discretion and compliance with protected health information, data integrity, and security policies.
  • Reviews prescriptions issued by a physician or other authorized prescriber to assure accuracy and determine formulas and ingredients needed.
  • Compounds medications, using standard formulas and processes such as weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients.
  • Compounds and dispenses prescribed medications, drugs, and other pharmaceuticals for patient care.
  • Consults patients, answers questions and provides information to pharmacy customers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage of pharmaceuticals.
  • Maintains established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs.
  • Enters data such as patient name, prescribed medication, and cost, to maintain pharmacy files, charge system, and inventory.
  • Assays medications to determine identity, purity, and strength.
  • Directs pharmacy workers engaged in mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals.
  • Maintains all pharmacy records required by the state, federal, and company mandated.

Qualifications: doctor of pharmacy (PharmD) degree required; current Nebraska pharmacy license (state registry in good standing) required; successful completion of an accredited pharmacy educational institution required; no record of alcohol, drug-related misdemeanor or felony conviction; no Medicare or Medicaid restrictions or sanctions; medical terminology; familiar with pharmacy software & EMR systems; familiar with Microsoft platforms & data entry; insurance experience.

Experience: one-year direct pharmacist experience in high-volume setting preferred.
