Animal Emergency & Specialty Center of Knoxville is seeking an exceptional Veterinary Technician or highly skilled Veterinary Assistant to join our Overnight ICU team. This role is ideal for professionals who want to work at the top of their license, manage critical patients, and contribute meaningfully to life-saving care.

Overnight shifts required
  • Overnight differential applies beginning at 12:00 AM ($+2/hour)

Key Responsibilities – ICU & Emergency Medicine
  • Provide overnight monitoring and management of ICU and critical care patients
  • Perform advanced technical procedures including:
    • IV catheter placement
    • Blood collection and transfusions
    • Radiographs
    • Anesthesia induction and monitoring
  • Assist with emergency stabilization, triage, and urgent interventions
  • Support Internal Medicine diagnostics such as ultrasound, endoscopy, and advanced lab testing
  • Administer medications via IV, IM, SQ, oral, and injectable routes
  • Deliver detailed post-procedure and critical care monitoring
  • Provide overnight patient updates to pet owners
  • Communicate treatment plans, diagnostics, and next steps with clarity and compassion
  • Work closely with ER doctors, ICU teams, and Internal Medicine specialists
  • Participate in case rounds and ensure continuity of care across departments
  • Maintain accurate, thorough medical records and treatment logs
  • Ensure ICU, treatment, and workspaces are clean, stocked, and hospital-ready

✅ What We’re Looking For:
  • 2–3+ years of veterinary hospital experience (Emergency, ICU, or Specialty strongly preferred)
  • Advanced technical skills in anesthesia, emergency procedures, and patient monitoring
  • Comfortable working independently on overnight shifts
  • Strong communication skills and a calm, confident presence in high-pressure situations
  • Physically able to lift, restrain, and stand for extended periods
  • A true patient-first mindset and commitment to gold-standard care
  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT, RVT, CVT)
  • Prior experience in Emergency, ICU, or Specialty Medicine
  • Familiarity with critical care protocols and specialty diagnostics
