Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Experienced Civil / Geotechnical Engineer with at least 5 years of experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience) to join our geoenvironmental and geotechnical practice in Charlotte, NC. This position offers the opportunity to work a hybrid schedule up to the companies discretion Apply your engineering skills to projects involving landfills, coal combustion residuals, dams and levees, and mines while further developing the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Civil design, landfill design, and site layout;
  • Geotechnical engineering analyses such as slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity, seismic, and seepage;
  • Geotechnical and environmental site characterization;
  • Develop and manage instrumentation monitoring systems;
  • Small project/task management and proposal preparation support;
  • Preparation of engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, technical specifications, and permit applications; and
  • Fieldwork associated with design and construction services.
  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.
Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering. (required)
  • Advanced degree in civil or geotechnical engineering. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E.) (preferred)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
  • At least 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Strong oral and technical writing skills. (required)
  • Experience with modeling/design tools such as AutoCAD, ArcMap, SLIDE, FLAC, PLAXIS. (preferred)
  • Field work and overnight travel may be required.Β 
  • Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)Β 
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.Β 
  • Ability to travel to client facilities. (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
