Job description

WORK ENVIRONMENT, PHYSICAL DEMANDS, TRAVEL AND WORKING HOURS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Works primarily in an office environment performing computer-based design and review tasks using standard office equipment for extended periods while sitting and/or standing.
  • Performs typical administrative duties associated with design work, including electronic filing and documentation.
  • May conduct occasional site visits to industrial client facilities, operating units, or construction areas for data collection, coordination, and verification, as project needs require. Site visits may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, moving mechanical equipment, electrical energy, vibration, fumes, chemicals, airborne particles, heat, and other industrial hazards.
  • Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces and navigate multi-level facilities, including the use of stairs and ladders as needed to access work areas.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, climb, and maintain balance as required to access equipment and gather field data.
  • Must have normal hearing and clear near and distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus to safely perform office and occasional field tasks.
  • Must be able to safely lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally (for example, laptops, drawings, small tools, or instruments).
  • Must be able to drive a company or personal vehicle to and from client locations and office sites. Must be able to attend site visits and field assignments in hot or otherwise challenging climates while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE). Use of appropriate PPE is required at client sites, which may include hard hat, safety glasses, flame-resistant clothing, hearing protection, safety footwear, gloves, and respiratory protection where applicable.
  • Occasional work in industrial facilities or construction environments may include elevated work areas and locations with noise, dust, and variable weather, as applicable to assigned projects. Travel to client facilities, project sites, and between office locations may be required with little or no notice, including occasional overnight and out-of-town assignments.
  • Employee work schedules are determined by departmental and project requirements, with core working hours established to ensure necessary functions are covered while allowing some flexibility in start and end times where business needs are met.
