We are looking for a self-motivated, EXPERIENCED, detail-oriented, and ambitious team player to join our growing team as a Lead Cable Technician with lots of room for growth! The Lead Cable Tech MUST HAVE experience with AV, security surveillance, and access control solutions. The Lead Cable Tech will be highly skilled in the installation of advanced professional audio, video, and video conferencing solutions in the commercial AV integration industry. Professionalism with clients, pride in your work, and being a team player are additional MUSTS.

BCS regularly works on Prevailing Wage projects. The ideal candidate will be comfortable performing installations, documentation, and compliance in these environments in addition to standard commercial projects.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Install new low-voltage, A/V, and fiber optic cabling at client job sites (including renovations and new construction in office and warehouse environments)
  • Perform site surveys for clients and Sales Department for project bid opportunities
  • Provide material and labor estimates for internal Sales Department
  • Assist in design and configuration of server room/rack equipment environments
  • Troubleshoot miscellaneous cabling and A/V issues
  • Install other items such as access points, time clocks, paging equipment, etc.
  • Complete all work in compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and Prevailing Wage requirements where applicable
  • Other items as needed

What skills you need to succeed:

  • Working knowledge of MS Excel and Word
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and consistent workflow
  • Positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills for communication with colleagues and clients
  • Ability to multitask and be open to learning

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on cabling experience in the field as a LEAD
  • Experience installing and troubleshooting: Cat 5e, Cat 6 & 6a, feed pair cables, fiber optic cabling, and rack equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot wiring issues (station-side, patch-panel side, and demarcation points)
  • Clear communication, organizational, documentation, and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Professional appearance and ability to work directly with clients
  • Ability to lift 80 pounds
  • Experience with scissor and/or boom lifts
  • Clean driving record, valid driver’s license, and insurable
  • Computer proficiency
  • Ability to read blueprints/building plans
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed (early mornings, late nights, or overnight)
  • Experience on Prevailing Wage projects is a big plus

  • Panduit, Corning, or Systimax certifications
  • Boom and/or scissor lift certifications
  • Cable certification experience (Fluke or similar tools)
